If
there is a question about what the laser cut looks like
on your material, send us a piece, we'll cut something
out and send it back, fair enough? On some materials the laser leaves
a black edge, which seems to be desirable in most cases.
The
laser has the capability of making depth cuts or marking
without cutting through. This is great for marking assembly positions
or for detail on visual products, like business card holders and
is faster than engraving, thus more cost effective. It’s just
great for a small amount of text and will be done at the same time
as the through cuts. On some materials, for instance solid surface,
we (or you) need to wipe some color in the cut so it stands out,
on others, like in some woods, the cut line is enough. This process
does not replace high quality laser engraving by a long shot. Go
to Laser Engraving for that.
Use another color and/or layer for your score lines or text in your
drawings. We
can to make the score lines a little wider if you want. This also
helps text to be more visible.

Examples of Finished Cutting Products |
1)
If you have drawn your product in a cad program,
export the file as a dxf, and e-mail it to: phil@filener.com.
The easy file formats for us are .dxf,
.dwg, .cdr,
because we use AutoCAD and Corel Draw, but we have
been known to crack many other file types. You might want to send
two or three different file types; we’re bound to open one of
them. Please, give us a dimension or two, so we know if the part comes
out of the wire on our end the right size. You never know what might
happen if the Internet elves get a hold of it.
The
laser beam width is .004
and it splits the line, so for example if you want a hole .25 you
would draw it .246. Just ask, if you need more information on this
concept. When you get into small holes or very intricate line drawings
this is going to vary somewhat because of the heat. Usually the
area taken out will be larger. You might figure .007 instead of
.004.
If
you don't have a cad file, you can send us a dimensioned
hand drawing (e-mail or snail mail) and we will interpret to the
laser for you. No charge for simple parts, but more complex parts
may incur a drafting fee. Probably no more than $20.00 - $30.00.
Send it by e-mail to: phil@filener.com

2) We will give you a price via e-mail
in a timely manner.
3) You tell us that is the best
price ever, go ahead and cut my parts out.
4)
Payment and contact
information is available through each link. Some of you may want to
send business checks and you can send them to the address listed above.
You can provide your own material, but in most
cases we provide the material, so you need to specify the material
type and thickness. If the material thickness, color, type, etc.
is real critical, please, think about providing the material for
us. This eliminates any potential problems of us sending you the
wrong stuff. Keep in mind; materials like acrylic can vary in thickness,
even from one end of the sheet to the other and ¼" acrylic is not
¼", it's .230 or somewhere close. Go to Information
and find out more about the application that applies to your material.
5) Then the last step is, we cut
out your product and send it to you as soon as Pay Pal notifies
us of your payment. Which is very fast. It's as simple as that.

good outfit to do business with.
